How Cardaps collects and uses data
Cardaps aggregates data from 10 verified sources including NHTSA, Transport Canada, NRCan, Statistics Canada, IBC, SAAQ, Bank of Canada, and 150,000+ verified Canadian car listings from multiple market sources. All government data is from official open data portals.
Update frequency varies by source: VIN decoding and recalls are real-time API calls. Dealer listings are scraped daily. Fuel economy ratings are updated annually when NRCan releases new data. Provincial statistics are updated monthly or quarterly.
Cardaps uses the same government databases that dealers and insurers rely on. VIN data comes directly from NHTSA vPIC, recalls from Transport Canada, and fuel ratings from NRCan. Market prices are calculated from 150,000+ verified Canadian listings, not estimates.
